Isabella
- The Seasons Of Grief: Chapter I - Poem VI -
Hey Isabella, do you ever stop and think of that time?
When we were younger, still kids in line,
Skipping through the summers, in a park’s embrace,
Laughing all the time, never losing our place
All our friends moved on, but you stayed near,
The only one who quiets my fear
Now it’s just weddings and three-hour drives,
Best friends forever, keeping love alive
Oh Isabella, when they all fell in smoke and faded away,
You held my hand through the rainiest of school days
The stars in your eyes shine brighter still,
A light in my life, teaching others how to fill
We skipped the dances and the proms; turned from the crowd,
Shared secrets in whispers, unspoken but loud
You and me, against the tide,
Even as an adult, you’re my safest side
You’re a queen of strength and style,
The one who’s walked with me every mile
No matter what the world brings, its bad news, the stories they tell,
With you Isabella, all is well
Oh, Isabella, you’ve stayed right by my side,
Through the tears and the laughter, the lows and the highs,
And if the world feels too heavy to ever bear,
You’ll find me here, know I’ll always care
So, here’s to the road we’ve yet to roam,
To late-night talks and the lost feeling of home,
Forever my bestie, my truest, my star,
Isabella, you’ve made me into all that I am and are
